Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has prompted a reaction from Sunderland fans regarding the outcome of League One.
With the recent pandemic halting the footballing season, various debates amongst fans, media men and footballing officials are being heard.
With the Premier League looking to return as soon as it is safe to do so, the Championship is set to follow, whilst the outcome of the League One is yet to be decided.
For Sunderland fans, they see the club sat in 7th place in the League One standings, and on the verge of missing out on a play-off place.
Should the club fail to gain a promotion back to the Championship, the Black Cats will embark on a third season in England’s third tier, a massive drop down from the Premier League status they had just a few years ago.
Commenting on football’s return of late during various media appearances, Neville has now claimed that League One clubs are only interested in themselves in a post on Twitter.
Reacting to Neville’s comments, Sunderlands fans gave a mixed opinion on the matter…
L1 just entered the “ Self Interest festival of football “
-Clubs at the top of each league
“ Health first but we must re-start“
-Clubs at the bottom
“ Health first and NO way we can re-start and we can’t be relegated without playing “
Utterly depressing to watch!

So it’s fine for the Premier league to return but not the lower leagues? Either void the whole league system or play the game’s simple!
How can points per game work either when the Bolton fielded kids in their first 5 games giving a weighted advantage to their opponents— Troutini (@Troutini1) May 15, 2020
Said it about whole league not just Sunderland. Wasn’t derogetory about Sunderland at all

As bad as the echo for misleading headlines. Mag rag

I don’t think that self interest at this stage is actually that bad, clubs ultimately (especially a club like Sunderland) need to think about how to get through this

What’s your solution for league one then Gary if games can’t be played before players contracts end and clubs going bankrupt becomes an issue?
