Sunderland have identified Paul Cook and Mark Robins as two of their top targets to replace Jack Ross, according to TEAMtalk.

Following the Scotsman’s dismissal, former Barnsley man Daniel Stendel has also been heavily linked with the role, as reported by The Chronicle.
However, this report suggests the current managers of Wigan Athletic and Coventry City are the frontrunners to take the job:

Despite Cook managing in the league above, while Robins’ Coventry side currently sit above Sunderland in the League One table, many Black Cats fans are uninterested in having either man as their manager.
One fan even suggested that all Sunderland have been linked with is “a bunch of failures”, indicating they think the club needs to look at someone completely different, while one has said the Black Cats may as well just bring Ross back if they’re looking at people like this.
What is for certain is that they won’t be over the moon if either of this pair ends up becoming Sunderland manager.
