Many Sunderland fans were frustrated with Jack Ross for leaving Lee Burge on the bench against MK Dons.
The manager decided to use Jon McLaughlin in goal instead of the 26-year-old, as has been the case in the league, with the Scotsman having played all nine of the Black Cats’ League One matches prior to the game, as per SofaScore:

However, many Sunderland fans feel that this is harsh on the goalkeeper, especially after the part he played in the 1-0 Carabao Cup victory over Premier League outfit Sheffield United.
He was named Man of the Match by SofaScore, with a rating of 8.0, having made 5 saves, 2 of which were from shots taken inside the box, 1 high claim, 1 tackle and 1 clearance.
It should also be noted that this means he is actually the first of the two Sunderland ‘keepers to keep a clean sheet this season, as per Transfermarkt.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the decision, including posts from disappointed Sunderland fans, can be seen below:

Got to be McLaughlins last Chance in stocks for me, Burge must start in my opinion. At least O’Nein is playing in his natural position
