The two managers who seem set to battle it out for the chance to succeed Jack Ross as Sunderland boss are Phil Parkinson and Nigel Pearson, as talked about by Roker Report.
With there having been plenty of talk around this topic since the Scotsman was dismissed, the outlet were interested to see who the fans’ favoured candidate was:
Two of the names apparently in the running for the Sunderland manager’s job are Phil Parkinson and Nigel Pearson – would either men have what it takes to inspire everyone and lead us to promotion?

Many Sunderland fans were unanimous in their decision regarding who they want out of the pair, with Pearson (recently touted by the Sun) the man coming out on top.
There has also been the mention that there would be a favourable outlook if Kevin Phillips was to come in as the former Leicester City manager’s assistant.
It is uncertain whether Sunderland will manage to get someone in before the away game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday, but if they do, it will be a big opportunity for the manager to make an immediate impact.
This is because a win would take the Black Cats within one point of their opposition, who currently in second place.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the question, including posts from decisive Sunderland fans, can be seen below:
Pearson for me, he was the one who put down the foundations for Leicester.
I’m not saying we’ll go on to win the Premier League, but I do think he’ll set us on our way back to the Premier League, and hopefully this time around with the right foundations we’ll be more stable.

After deliberating for hours and days on end my preferred choice for the Sunderland management position is Nigel Pearson with SKP as his No.2. Of course, goes without saying, whoever is appointed will get my undying, loyal, undivided and fanatical support!!! Bring it on
