Sunderland: Many fans were full of praise for Luke O’Nien

Luke O’Nien played an important part in Sunderland’s 1-0 Carabao Cup victory against Sheffield United on Wednesday evening.

The 24-year-old got the assist for Max Power’s strike, while he also made 2 key passes, was successful with his 1 cross, completed his 1 dribble, hit the woodwork and won 8 duels while making 1 tackle, 1 interception and 1 clearance, as per SofaScore, with all of this indicating how influential he was across the pitch.

Once the final whistle had blown and the victory was confirmed, O’Nien celebrated with a classic double fist-pump, which was then tweeted out:

One fan even claimed that he can become a Sunderland legend, while another stated that the 24-year-old is a ‘Mackem in the making’.

It is pretty safe to say that he is a popular figure at the Stadium of Light, especially after this latest victory.
