Sunderland could be taking Chad international Haroun Tchaouna on trial, as claimed by the player himself and reported by Tchadinfos.com, via Roker Report.
The striker was an academy player at Stade Rennais and is now a free agent, having left Italian side USD Caravaggio.
There is also supposedly interest in the 19-year-old from Ligue 1 outfit Angers:
Chad international striker Haroun Tchaouna – formerly of Stade Rennais – has claimed he is set to join Sunderland on trial.

While it is very difficult to judge the striker, as fans will know very little about him, they are still wary of the club committing to signing him.
There are a variety of reasons behind this, with some not trusting the current recruitment team to bring in the people needed, while others feel new players are required in other positions than at striker.
His comment that he is waiting for the results from a test at Angers also doesn’t bode well, as it makes some feel as though Sunderland are the second-best choice.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the report, including posts from wary Sunderland fans, can be seen below:
Stop, Hold, pause all signings and scouting until the take over happens and we get a decent recruitment team appointed. To say we have been useless in the windows previously is a understatement.
