Sunderland manager Jack Ross has confirmed that it will be two to three weeks until Duncan Watmore is back from injury, as reported on the club’s official channels.
He continued to state that the injuries were a source of frustration for both player and manager, though he insisted that the club must stick by the 25-year-old:
JR: It will be around another two to three weeks for Duncan. It’s a muscular injury. It’s frustrating for me and for him. We need to get him right to play and the support him through the challenges he faces. #SAFC pic.twitter.com/pWxokCG62h

This seems to have annoyed many of the club’s fans, who feel they have already been patient enough with Watmore through his injury struggles.
He has had two long layoffs since the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign, as per Transfermarkt, with various smaller niggling injuries following.
He has played once this season, coming on for the final 31 minutes of the 1-1 draw against Oxford United on the opening day, though he has been unavailable due to injury since then.
