Luke O’Nien has become a fans’ favourite at Sunderland, as highlighted by a piece that was published on Roker Report.
The supporters have truly taken him to their hearts and part of the reason for that is how much the club clearly means to him.
When George Dobson scored to put Sunderland 3-1 up against Burnley, many Sunderland fans went wild in celebration, but not many of them will have gone as hard as O’Nien:
@georgedobson97 ever so sorry for the celebration mate! It’s not everyday Dobbo shoots let alone scores https://t.co/Sn2SrwClCr

It was the 25-year-old who set Dobson up for the goal and while he would have been thankful for the well-worked assist, the former West Ham United player probably won’t have been quite as appreciative about being sent head first into the advertising boards.
There were various pictures of the pair celebrating the goal and end result on Sunderland’s Twitter page following the game, with the duo helping many supporters feel like they are truly getting their club back.
A selection of Twitter reaction to O’Nien’s apology, including posts from amused Sunderland fans, can be seen below:
Getting a bit of a reputation for knocking your own into advertising hoardings Luke son . That right @Fulwellend1 ? .
