Many Sunderland fans have expressed their respect for Jack Ross despite being sacked by their club.

The Scottish manager was dismissed this afternoon, just hours before their clash against Grimsby Town in the EFL Trophy.
The Black Cats had gone five games without a win before their 2-0 loss at Sincil Bank on Saturday and had lost just two competitive matches this season.
Despite this, the club still only sit sixth in League One, with Ipswich now eight points ahead of them at the top of the tree.
Ross, 43, joined the club in May last year and was able to take Sunderland to Wembley twice in his only full year in charge. Unfortunately for him and the club, both resulted in losses – the EFL Trophy to Portsmouth as well as the play-off final to Charlton.
Many fans responded to the club Twitter with happiness, however, there were a select few who were grateful for the Scot’s commitment, even if they still believed he was right to depart.
Here are some of the responses below…
His team has lost twice this season, twice and 11 in his tenor with us and we’ve let him go…. what a joke

Shame as I really wanted him to work but sadly it hasn’t ever kicked in

I liked him but results were no where near good enough overall. Best of luck and hopefully we really kick on
