Sunderland have confirmed that Luke O’Nien’s three-game ban has been overturned after a successful appeal to the EFL.
The 25-year-old was sent off in the 3-0 loss to Peterborough for his part in a coming-together with Ivan Toney, but he will not miss the games against Accrington Stanley, Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers anymore:

While Sunderland fans are happy to see that O’Nien will be able to play, they also want to see the initial injustice of Toney’s play-acting punished.
Many fans are calling for the former Newcastle United player to get a ban of his own for deceiving the referee, in a similar way to how Patrick Bamford was at the back end of last season, as was reported by BBC Sport at the time.
