Sunderland have enjoyed a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market despite preparing for a demanding campaign back in Europe.
The Black Cats’ only senior arrival so far has been experienced Belgian defender Thomas Meunier, who joined from Lille, while several players have departed.
The most notable exits have been Eliezer Mayenda, who completed a move to Stade Rennais, and Bertrand Traoré, who left the club following the expiry of his contract.
There has also been interest in another key Sunderland player, but the club have made their stance crystal clear.
Isidor Not for Sale
According to Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie, Sunderland have no intention of selling Wilson Isidor this summer despite attracting interest from a number of clubs, including West Ham United.
The 25-year-old, described as “important” by former Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke, remains a key part of the club’s plans as they prepare for both the Premier League and Europa League this season.
The Black Cats are understood to be refusing to entertain offers for the French forward, with the club determined to keep hold of one of their leading attacking options.
Isidor enjoyed a solid campaign last season, scoring six Premier League goals from 11 starts, helping Sunderland secure an impressive seventh-place finish and qualification for European football.
With a busy schedule ahead, Sunderland see the striker as an important member of Régis Le Bris’ squad and are not prepared to weaken their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
