Sheffield Wednesday: Fans rave over Fraser Preston’s double against Barnsley U23s

There hasn’t been a lot to celebrate for the Sheffield Wednesday first-team of late but there have at least been positive signs from the youngsters in recent days.

A 2-0 victory for the under 23s side against Barnsley U23s has got fans talking, with 20 year-old striker Fraser Preston the target of much of their praise for his performance. Preston found the target twice at the Oakwell training ground, with the first a result of some fine link-up play with his teammate, finishing off a well-worked one-two and showing good composure to do so.

The Owls’ strikers have lacked that for much of the season, particularly recently with one goal in five games, with Steven Fletcher the only player in the squad to have scored more than four goals this season.

It is clear that Garry Monk has a lot to work on and some fans think he should call upon the youth players at the club to show what they can do.

Here is some of the reaction to Preston’s performance and his two goals.
