Newcastle United: Fans rage at Keith Downie update on injuries

Newcastle United will start up their Premier League season once again on Sunday as they face Sheffield United at St. James’ Park.

This will be an experience like no other, as it will be the first game that will be played in front of no fans at St. James’ Park. The Blades come into this match having already played once since the return of the campaign, with them having played out a 0-0 draw at Villa Park on Wednesday. It is a chance for the Magpies to earn three important points – they are only eight above the relegation zone with nine matches still left to play.

However, it appears they could be without several players according to journalist Keith Downie. He reports that Matt Ritchie, Sean Longstaff and Dwight Gayle are all doubts for the match, whilst Matty Longstaff will definitely miss out.

This has attracted plenty of attention from the Toon supporters, and it is fair to say they aren’t too happy – they seem to feel that no-one should be unfit given that they haven’t played in three months.
