Some Spurs fans are furious that Jose Mourinho blamed ‘mentality mistakes’ (via The Sun) for Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday afternoon.
Mourinho also branded the loss as ‘totally unfair’ and urged his side to be more ‘ruthless’ in his post-match interview ahead of Spurs’ next fixture in the FA Cup round-of-sixteen clash with Norwich City on Wednesday night.
For Mourinho to question the North London club’s mentality is worrying for a team who have not reached a major cup final for twelve years, and have not won the Premier League or the First Division equivalent for sixty. Mourinho, meanwhile, has won major trophies at every club he’s managed since Porto and has been able to set his teams up mentally to win league titles and major finals, though his stock has fallen in recent years after sackings at Chelsea and Manchester United.
Still, some fans have reacted angrily to Mourinho’s comments and have even questioned his own mentality:

There is nothing positive about our club !, no investment or ambition, players always injured, weak mentality, error prone, no confidence . We have a proven winner in Jose Mourinho but even the cant wait for the end of the season. #levyout

The reality is that there are no more clubs where #Mourinho could advance his vainglorious mentality! #TOTWOL
