Tottenham fans have seen a lot of Harry Winks this season. The young midfielder turns 23-years-old today, and he’s set to be starting in an hour and a half when the Lilywhites host Newcastle at Wembley. This game is must win given that both Liverpool and Man City dropped points in the week, and if Winks is at his best a win will be easier to come by.

Harry Winks has provided Tottenham fans with some memorable moments in his short career so far. There’s always a closer bond between a player and the fans when that player has come through the club’s youth academy and when the Lilywhites see Winks, they know he’s one of them. The young midfielder has been key to everything Spurs have done this season, and Mauricio Pochettino has had to show his faith in him.
Injuries have come more frequently than anything in North London this season. For a lengthy spell over the festive period Tottenham had to make do with just Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks as their available senior central midfielders, and whilst 12 months ago the fans would have been screwing at that prospect, the pairing has become a formidable one, and if they’re chosen to face Newcastle today then it will certainly be a tough ask for the Lilywhites.
