Tottenham Hotspur owner Daniel Levy has been in discussions with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over a potential January move for Gareth Bale, that is according to Spanish football expert Juanfe Sanz speaking to El Chiringuito TV.
The Welsh international has struggled for game time at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, starting just 10 times in all competitions (Transfermarkt) due to a combination of injuries and being out of favour.
Indeed, Los Blancos tried to sell him to Jiangsu Suning in the Chinese Super League back in the summer, but Perez pulled the plug on a deal despite manager Zinedine Zidane insisting that it would be “best for everyone” if Bale left (BBC Sport).
It could be that the Spanish club try to move him on once again this month and it seems that Tottenham are in the race. It would certainly make sense, the Wales star knows the club having previously played for them and he recently admitted that Jose Mourinho was a good fit for Spurs (BT Sport).
Added to that he would add goals to the team which they need given Harry Kane is set to be out until at least April (tottenhamhotspur.com). Indeed, this is a player who has netted 165 club goals in his career to date (Transfermarkt).
However, despite the transfer link, it seems that many Tottenham fans are sceptical, with many refusing to believe that their club will sign Bale this month. Here is what some had to say on Twitter…
This is the standard leaked story for a big name player to appease fans. Happens every window and ultimately ends in disappointment !

Levy fails with a Loan Bid for a striker from Porto that nobody has heard of because he doesn’t want to pay a loan fee but the next week will sign Gareth Bale. Sounds legit 👍🏻👍🏻
