Tottenham Hotspur: Fans urge club to complete Nelson Semedo transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a €36 million (£31 million) offer for Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo, that is according to a report from El Desmarque.

Right-back is an area that Jose Mourinho may look to improve this month, especially after a report from the Evening Standard suggested that one of their two players in that position, Kyle Walker-Peters, could be set to move on loan to Crystal Palace.

That would leave just Serge Aurier as their only recognised right-back, so it would seem logical for them to bring in another to ensure they are not short.

Semedo has been a regular for Barcelona this season, making 20 combined appearances in La Liga and the Champions League, 15 of which were starts (Transfermarkt).

Looking at the 26-year-old’s statistics, he actually excels in a number of areas. Indeed, on average he wins 60% of his total duels per game, is dribbled past 0.4 times and only loses possession 7.8 times per match (SofaScore).

Meanwhile, Aurier only wins 58% of his total duels, is dribbled past 1.0 time per game and crucially loses possession a lot more, 16.3 times to be exact (SofaScore).

It seems that many Spurs fans would love to see Semedo signed, here is what some had to say on Twitter…
