Tottenham may soon announce an official role for Yaya Toure after he was once again spotted at a Spurs U23s game, according to club insider John Wenham (via Football Insider).

The Lowdown: Toure’s coaching experience

In December last year, Sky Sports reported that former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure was gaining coaching experience on an informal basis by working alongside Spurs staff Dean Rastrick and Chris Powell.

After going on trial with Chinese side QD Huanghai, the 38-year-old retired from the game at the beginning of 2020, following a disappointing move to Olympiacos.

During 2020, the Ivorian began his coaching experience with stints at Olimpik Donetsk in Ukraine and Akhmat Grozny in Russia. However, he has since moved backed to London, where he has started to work with Tottenham.

The Latest: Toure spotted at Hotspur Way

Antonio Conte currently has Cristian Stellini, Gianluca Conte, Costantino Coratti, Gian Piero Ventrone, Stefano Bruno and Ryan Mason on his coaching team, while Wayne Burnett looks over the youth team.

Speaking to Football Insider, Wenham revealed that he had spotted Toure watching Tottenham’s U23s side playing against Crystal Palace U23s, pondering whether he will soon become an official member of Conte's team.

“I was at the Tottenham Under 23s game against Crystal Palace at Hotspur Way last week,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“There were quite a few noteworthy people there actually. I spotted Yaya Toure.

“He’s still here, in a full training kit as well. There has been no official announcement from the club regarding any position for him.

“He’s obviously decided to stay on at the club after his two-week trial period.

“It was good to see him speaking to some of the players before and after the game.

“We’ll have to keep an eye out to see if the club announces an official role for him soon.”

The Verdict: Positive appointment

Appointing a Premier League legend to the coaching staff will only be beneficial to the youngsters at the club. Toure will garner immense respect given his wealth of experience, having won three Premier League titles in eight seasons with Man City, and this will go on to motivate those players looking to break into the first-team.

The Daily Mail have reported that the former Barcelona man is working towards his A License, and so he will not be involved with the first team. However, this does not rule out the possibility of a senior role at the club in the future, perhaps developing his techniques first with the youngsters.
