Tottenham have given their supporters a real mixed bag of results this season with their home and away form contrasting each week.

Last weekend’s late win over Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium was a massive result for Mauricio Pochettino who has seen his side fire three late winners in three of their last four away games.

If Spurs can finally get the formula right at White Hart Lane, there is no reason why they shouldn’t believe they can challenge for that fourth spot and Champions League qualification.

With Liverpool and Arsenal having hardly made inspiring starts to the season, Tottenham may never get a better opportunity to sneak that qualifying spot and a lot may well depend on how they strengthen in January.

Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t backed hugely in the summer, and has set his sights on several players he thinks can help the cause.

Jay Rodriguez

The Southampton forward is yet to feature this season following the horror injury he suffered at the back end of the 2013/14 campaign.

But that has not stopped Pochettino registering an interest in the player he helped to become the second highest English goalscorer of the previous campaign.

The Saints look pretty strong going forward at present and may be willing to listen to the right offer in January given how they have coped in Rodriguez’s absence.

Raul Albiol

The 29-year-old is the man identified to strengthen Tottenham’s defence according to reports.

Albiol has featured in La Liga and is currently with Serie A side Napoli.

Reports suggest he would welcome the chance of trying his luck in the Premier League whilst Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is aware he needs to sell players in order to fund moves for reinforcements.

If the right offer came in for Albiol this winter, it would be difficult for Napoli to turn it down.

Paco Alcacer

The 21-year-old is considered one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football and has caught the eye of Tottenham over the past 12 months.

With Roberto Soldado looking to be on his way out White Hart Lane this winter, it would not come as a great shock if Spurs could negotiate some sort of swap deal that would see Soldado return to his former club with Alcacer making the switch to North London.

Jackson Martinez

Alternatively, some reports suggest Tottenham could look to offload both Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor in the hope of funding a big money move for Porto’s Jackson Martinez.

The Colombian international has been outspoken in saying he is looking for a fresh challenge but with Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City looking strong in the striking department, it looks as though Tottenham and Liverpool are set to fight it out for his signature.

And given the Reds’ history of missing out on their top transfer targets, it would be no surprise if Tottenham were the ones capable of bringing Martinez to the Premier League.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Given the fact Tottenham made three official offers for Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer, it would hardly come as a shock if they were to reignite their interest this winter.

Schneiderlin has since settled at Southampton and played his part in a superb start to the season.

But with signs of the Saints bubble bursting following four consecutive defeats, the offer of European football and the chance to reunite with his former boss may prove difficult for Schneiderlin to reject once more.
