Sebastian Larsson appears to have played his last game in a blues shirt, as the free agent is set to turn his back on relegated Birmingham City this summer.
According to reports in Turkey, he is paces behind the likes of Elmander and Lyon’s Kim Kallstrom in joining Turkish Giants Galatasaray, who are believed to be prepared to offer the Swedish international a three year contract.
The Istanbul side have been keeping a close eye on the premiership’s want-away stars and offering a new challenge to help the once dominant Turkish outfit lift some silver-where for the first time since 2008, and bring back the powerful status once associated with the club.
Larsson has made over 200 appearances for Birmingham during five years at the club, and despite Peter Pannu, Brum’s chairman admitting he would like him to renew his contract he refuses to meet the player’s high salary demands.
The Guardian has reported several premiership clubs including, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Newcastle thought to be eyeing up a move for the 26 year old midfielder.
Larsson’s agent, Per Jonsson said “He wants to stay in England. He loves it there. There are three or four clubs in England that are very interested. Blackburn is one of them, absolutely.
I think from this revelation we can put this rumour to sleep and can agree Galatasaray will miss out on this potential signing as they don’t even have European football to tempt the former Arsenal man, after finishing a disappointing eighth in the league.
