What’s the story?
The Irons are apparently keen on signing striker Maupay, winger Watkins and left-back Henry this month in order to bolster their squad ahead of the remainder of the Premier League campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini would be pulling off a sensational coup if he was able to bring this trio of exciting Championship stars to the London Stadium. All three would fit in well with the Irons and could have an immediate impact on the first team.
What are the wider implications of Marko Arnautovic leaving West Ham? Check out the Pl>ymaker FC squad’s unfiltered opinion in the video below…
The 22-year-old Frenchman has been in fine form this season, having racked up 15 goals and 6 assists in 25 Championship outings. He would be the ideal man to take the place of Arnautovic in the West Ham starting XI and, given his age, he is only likely to keep getting better.
23-year-old Watkins has been brilliant for the Bees this season. His pace, work rate, creativity and technical ability make him a dangerous weapon on the flanks. His return of 7 goals and 4 assists in 23 league games so far in this campaign is encouraging and he’d certainly offer the Hammers a new dimension on the left-wing.
A knee injury kept Henry out of the Brentford side for the majority of the first half of the season, but since his return to full fitness the 21-year-old has established himself as the Bees’ first choice left-back.
His arrival in east London would offer great competition for the likes of Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku, who are both players Henry could surpass into the West Ham first team in time.
