Dean Smith conducted his first full interview since becoming the Aston Villa manager yesterday and whilst the fans can watch it on the club’s Youtube channel, however, the club also tweeted a snippet of the interview where Smith claims he wants to implement an attacking brand of football.

After suffering through the management of Steve Bruce, having a gaffer who’s openly talking about the attacking exciting football he wants to play will be music to the ears of Aston Villa fans. The supporters will be excited to see just how Smith lines them up to take on the Championship and after seeing his Brentford side serially overachieve in the Championship they’re all confident that the boyhood Villa fan can get them promotion.
This season promotion might be a bit of a stretch, the club are currently 15th in the league and Smith’s been appointed without having any time to assemble his own squad. That won’t matter too much to him, though, and with the January window right around the corner, it looks like things could have fallen just right for the former Brentford man. He’s already won a lot of fans over despite his side having not kicked a ball, although when they host Swansea on Saturday it will be interesting to watch to see how Smith’s first game goes.
