Chelsea cruised into the FA Cup semi-finals with a dominant 7-0 win over Port Vale at the weekend, offering a timely boost after a difficult spell.
However, that result does little to disguise the underlying issues, with defeats to Newcastle, Everton and two heavy losses to PSG highlighting the need for reinforcements.
With Liam Rosenior expected to reshape parts of his squad this summer, Chelsea are already exploring potential additions — and they may have just received encouragement in their pursuit of one of Europe’s biggest stars.
Vinicius Open to Premier League Move
Vinícius Júnior could be open to a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea among the clubs closely monitoring his situation at Real Madrid.
According to ESPN’s Madrid correspondent Alex Kirkland, the Brazilian’s long-term future remains uncertain, with no agreement yet reached over a contract extension beyond 2027. While both player and club are keen to continue together, there is still a gap between Vinícius’ wage demands and what Madrid are prepared to offer.
Described as “amazing” by manager Álvaro Arbeloa, Vinícius has enjoyed a resurgence in form in recent months after a turbulent start to the campaign. The winger struggled earlier in the season, at one stage going several months without scoring and even losing his place in the starting XI. However, since Arbeloa’s arrival, he has rediscovered his best level, delivering match-winning performances against top opposition.
Despite that upturn, his contract situation remains unresolved, and with Madrid determined to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2027, a decision is expected sooner rather than later. A move to Saudi Arabia is not believed to appeal, leaving the Premier League and PSG as the most realistic alternatives if talks stall.
Chelsea are reportedly considering a major summer bid, sensing an opportunity should negotiations between player and club fail to progress.
While Real Madrid are still hopeful of tying Vinícius down to a new deal, the uncertainty surrounding his contract has opened the door for potential suitors. For Chelsea, it represents a rare chance to land a world-class talent — but much will depend on whether Madrid can resolve the situation before the summer window heats up.
