West Bromwich Albion fans were far from happy with the news that the Hawthorns outfit have lost their claim for compensation from Barcelona for Louie Barry.

Barry was highly-rated by the Baggies and impressed for the club's U18 side, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 13 matches (Transfermarkt). However, he never made a professional appearance for the Midlands side, instead making the move to Barcelona for free.

Barry spent just six months in Spain before moving to Aston Villa, the club he and his family supports. In their attempts to secure compensation from Barcelona, West Brom claimed they had made a formal sponsorship offer to Barry, but a judge has ruled that was not the case and has therefore shut down their claim (via The Athletic).

The news was shared on Twitter by The Athletic's Baggies correspondent Steve Madeley, and it attracted plenty of attention from the supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the matter.
