West Ham have rejected a £50 million bid from Tottenham for midfielder Mohammed Kudus as reported by ESPN.
The Ghana international has an £85m release clause in his contract which can only be activated by other Premier League clubs, but West Ham are open to letting him go at a lower fee. Tottenham will have to improve their bid and it is expected they will submit a fresh offer in the coming days.
Spurs have been quiet so far in this summer’s transfer window, and are on the market for a statement signing under new boss Thomas Frank. The futures of Son Heung-min and Richarlison remain in doubt, and Tottenham are on the market for attacking reinforcements.
Kudus has been one the Premier League’s standout performers despite his quiet season last campaign. Since joining West Ham from Ajax in 2023, he has played 80 games, scoring 19 goals and contributing 13 assists.
Spurs chasing Kudus

Tottenham are understood to be leading the race for the player, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that Kudus has given his green light.
Romano posted to X, saying Kudus is not talking to any other club and has already said yes to Tottenham.
The player was also of interest to Chelsea, with the Blues reportedly entering discussions with West Ham over a player-plus-cash deal involving goalkeeper Robert Sanchez earlier in the summer. That move never materialized however and it now seems the pathway is clear for Spurs to get their man.
In early April, Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr failed with an £85m bid for the player’s services in a deal which would have also more than tripled his salary. Kudus turned the personal terms as well, as he is prioritizing a stay in Europe and is keen on Champions League football.
