According to Football Insider, West Ham have been in preliminary talks over a deal for Bournemouth striker Joshua King – with negotiations ‘set to advance‘ in the coming days alongside the submission of an official bid.
King, who has been largely been left out by Cherries boss Jason Tindall in the Championship this season, even taking into account him missing six games in total due to thigh problems, is currently heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium.
Should West Ham sign Joshua King?
No, there are far better options
Joshua King talks begin for West Ham
Now, in a potentially big development, Football Insider reveal that talks have been held over King as GSB plot their first signing of the January window – especially given former Hammers striker Sebastien Haller has officially departed for Ajax.
These discussions are apparently going to advance over this next week, with a formal bid about to be lodged, coming after transfer insider Alex Crook also claimed that GSB have been working on a ‘potential deal‘ for King ‘behind the scenes‘.
Saying the Irons have been working on a move for ‘several weeks‘, Crook also revealed that the Norwegian is ‘desperate‘ for an east London move, with West Ham manager David Moyes also ‘very keen‘ on signing him.
Transfer Tavern take
Having scored a grand total of 18 goals in his last two Premier League campaigns, the 28-year-old is proven at finding the net in England’s top flight, and he could move for a bargain price that will entice GSB.
Even though Bournemouth maintained a £17.5 million demand in the summer, his contract expiring at the end of this season could force the south coast side to sell up on the cheap.
Whether or not they cave in and offload King for a slashed fee remains to be seen, but talks are now in place to try and bring the ‘complete package‘ to West Ham.
