West Ham United are struggling to diagnose the exact injury that Jarrod Bowen is suffering with, claims Evening Standard journalist Jack Rosser.
The Lowdown: Bowen’s injury
During the Hammers’ 1-0 loss to Liverpool earlier in the month, the 25-year-old was forced into a premature exit after sustaining an injury to his foot, which saw to his substitution in the 53rd minute.
As a result, the winger has missed the Irons’ last four games – coming as a huge blow to manager David Moyes.
The east London club had announced that Bowen had not suffered any serious damage with the injury. However, this would indicate that he should’ve been close to a return, and we are still no closer to finding out exactly when he’ll don the claret and blue again.
The Latest: Rosser’s update
Taking to Twitter, Rosser dropped a worrying update on Bowen’s situation. He claimed:
“West Ham are still struggling to diagnose exactly what is wrong with Bowen.
“Feeling is a small fracture but scans have not shown that so far and there are fears he could miss 1st leg vs Lyon.”

If the news is true and the former Hull City man is out for the Irons’ Europa League clash against Lyon, this will come as a huge blow for Moyes, as he will once again be without his side’s top goalscorer.
Bowen ranks in the 89th percentile for assists and the 88th percentile for non-penalty expected goals in Europe’s big five leagues and European competitions this season (via FB Ref), so he’s a massive threat to be missing in a huge tie against a side who were Champions League semi-finalists just two short years ago.
Fans and Moyes will be praying to get to the bottom of the situation as soon as possible.
