Sunderland: Fans debate whether Will Grigg deserves to feature against Ipswich

Sunderland will be determined to put things right after they lost last time out against Portsmouth, and the game against fellow promotion hopefuls Ipswich provides them with a great opportunity to do exactly that.

Victory would take them above the Tractor Boys in the table and possibly leave them in fourth place, perhaps even two points behind the automatic promotion spots. There is a lot riding on the fixture, therefore, but the Wearsiders have every reason to be confident despite the loss against Pompey.

Prior to that game, they enjoyed a nine-match unbeaten streak and their form at the Stadium of Light has been impressive this term despite setbacks early on in the campaign. Indeed, the Black Cats have just one defeat at home from 14 matches and Phil Parkinson now has several options at his disposal after the deadline day arrivals of Declan John and Antoine Semenyo, who made his Sunderland debut as a substitute at Fratton Park.

However, many fans have instead been discussing a different player – a certain Will Grigg. The Northern Ireland international is a player who divides opinion amongst the Sunderland fanbase and, having not featured since mid-December, these supporters are debating whether he deserves to feature in the matchday squad on Saturday.

Grigg may be out of form this season with one league goal so far but should he be included in the team against Ipswich? Carry on the discussion below Sunderland fans…
