Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendter could face a Summer transfer window move to Blackburn, according to newspaper reports.
Arsenal’s season has collapsed like Devon Loch, the race-horse who was famously well out in front of the field at the 1956 Grand National before collapsing just 50 yeards from the finishing line. Fans are beginning to question Wenger’s tactics and his players, and Bendtner could be one of a number of casualties when the end of another trophyless season rolls around.
Blackburn meanwhile, have emerged as favourites for the big Dane. Although currently battling relegation, the Lancashire based club will have some considerable financial backing next season. They’ve already been linked with ridiculous deals for Ronaldinho and Kaka, but Bendtner is a much more realistic target. Rovers are in need of a striker, and the current fashion for a big target man to lump balls up to means that they would be extremely interested in Bendtner. It’s likely to cost £15 million to wrestle him away from the Gunners, but it’s unlikely Arsene Wenger will put up much of a fight.
23 year old Bendtner has made 92 appearances for Arsenal, and scored 22 goals. Is that what £15 million gets you these days?
Arsenal need a real shake-up if things are to change at The Emirates, and it looks as if there could be a bit of a clear-out come August. I doubt even the most committed Gooner would miss Bendtner. He’s already been linked with a move to Germany, and a move to North London rivals Tottenham, so it remains doubtful that he’ll be at the club come the start of the next campaign.
