Tottenham Hotspur received a massive early-season boost recently after it was revealed that Lamela had returned to full training following an almost year-long lay off with a troublesome hip injury.
Lamela, who enjoyed his most successful season in a Tottenham shirt during the 2015/2016 season, was a huge loss for the North-London side in their title pursuit last season.
Strength in depth is a pivotal requirement for any squad looking to challenge for honours at the top of the Premier League table, so it is no surprise that news of his return has been warmly received by the Tottenham fans on Twitter.
Although there is absolutely no suggestion of complacency within the Tottenham ranks, Lamela’s return is sure to intensify competition for places within Pochetino’s starting eleven and encourage improvement throughout the squad.
Spurs’ title-rivals should take note, as Lamela is set to restore a fresh dimension to the team that has been sorely missed in his absence.
