Our West Ham fans here in the Transfer Tavern are a frustrated bunch this season to say the least.
After encouraging signs last season for the Hammers, things have fallen a bit by the wayside this season, with Slaven Bilic’s men sitting down in 13th position in the Premier League table.
A run of decent results though before defeats to Man United and Leicester over the new year have given some of our Hammers fans hope going into the January transfer window, with the club expected to strengthen.
Bilic has already been busy, tabling bids for the likes of Jermain Defoe and Scott Hogan within the first week of January.
However, it is not just up front that the Croat needs to add players too, with his midfielders not performing nearly as well as they should.
Our landlord thinks that Bilic needs to act quickly in the transfer market to bolster his midfield, so here are TWO midfielders West Ham should look to sign…
Mateo Kovacic

22-year-old Real Madrid midfielder Kovacic is an exceptional talent, but has failed to hold down a place in the Los Blancos line-up on a regular basis.
Although manager Zinedine Zidane does use him sparingly, Hammers gaffer Bilic might well fancy his chances of using his Croatian links to tempt the former Inter Milan midfield ace to the London Stadium.
A quality player who would add some much needed ability for the Hammers in the middle of the park, he could be a superb signing.
Fabian Delph

Former Leeds and Villa midfielder Delph has found himself well and truly out in the wilderness at Manchester City, and the Hammers could be wise to swoop for the England man.
Delph would certainly add some steal to the middle of the park for West Ham, and Bilic would be confident of getting the best out of him.
At 27-years-old, Delph is getting to the point where he needs to be playing regular football, and West Ham could provide him with the perfect opportunity to do so in the second half of the season.
