3 reasons why Scott Hogan would be a revelation for West Ham United

While the West Ham United fans in the Transfer Tavern are happy their relegation fears have somewhat subsided of late, there’s little doubt the Hammers really do need to improve.

Their first campaign in the London Stadium has never really threatened to get off the ground and Slaven Bilic desperately need some reinforcements in the January transfer market to revitalise the ranks.

They particularly need some signings up front, with their frontline looking toothless in attack, spearheaded by the utterly hapless Simone Zaza.

While links with Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe may be an emotional idea for our east London locals, though at 34, perhaps the Irons would be better off looking elsewhere.

To that end, links with a move for Brentford ace Scott Hogan may be a smarter avenue to explore.

With that in mind, here are THREE reasons Hogan would be a revelation should he join West Ham United in January.

A lethal spearhead

In recent weeks, the Irons are much improved with their buildup play, though don’t appear to have anyone who can put the ball in the back of the net.

Well, Hogan would be a wonderfully lethal outlet on that front and could help finish off attacks with aplomb, as the likes of Dimitri Payet serve up chances aplenty.

Poacher

With Defoe linked, it’s clear the Irons crave a poacher of the highest order and not much else.

Clearly, the Sunderland man is the much more experienced striker, though Hogan would be a youthful alternative and much more of a wise investment for those in east London.

Lower league success

There’ve been oh so many stories of lower league success in the Premier League over the past season or so and perhaps Hogan could follow in that trend.

Clearly, that’s no instant guarantee of success, but with the Hammers having wasted so much money over the years, a man who is tried and tested at every level so far could really be a smart signing.
