The Premier League is almost back upon us and our Spurs fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait to see their side back in action.

You can’t blame them either as, after a pretty slow start to the year, they’re really playing some lovely stuff right now and are serious contenders for the Premier League crown.

Last time out in the league they blew the title race wide open with a win over league leaders Chelsea and with the games set to come thick and fast over the next few weeks, there’s plenty of chance for them to reel the Blues in further.

That all starts this weekend, then, with a game against a West Brom side that have done very well themselves this season.

The Baggies have become a more threatening unit going forward as well as being tight at the back and so they could make for a tough fixture for Spurs.

Our landlord reckons the Lilywhites will win it, though, providing they play this XI on Saturday afternoon…

GK: Hugo Lloris

The French ‘keeper is right up there with the best in the league. Spurs have a top defence but they need Lloris to be on his game to help make that so.

RB: Kyle Walker

We’re in a bit of a debate here in the Transfer Tavern as to whether Walker has been as good as last year. Either way, though, he’s still going to start here.

CB: Toby Alderweireld

Spurs coped decently enough without Alderweireld in the side but you can see how much better it is with him in it. He really is a top bracket centre half.

CB: Jan Vertonghen

Alderweireld is even better, though, when he’s got Vertonghen alongside. He’s almost the bridesmaid of this defence but certainly deserves credit for the job he does.

LB: Danny Rose

Whilst we’re still debating about Kyle Walker, we’ve no such quarrels about Danny Rose. He’s gone up a level this season and is a real asset in both attack and defence.

CDM: Mousa Dembele

Dembele is a monster midfielder and everything you’d want from someone in the centre of a Premier League park. He batters past challenges and mixes it up with anyone – a class act.

CDM: Victor Wanyama

You’ve got to hand it to Wanyama as he’s ousted the impressive Eric Dier from the side. Easily Spurs’ best signing of the summer window and has settled in seamlessly.

RAM: Heung-Min Son

Son has blown hot and cold this year so you never really know which one is going to turn up. When he’s good he’s very good, though, and should get the nod here.

CAM: Dele Alli

Alli has really kicked on in recent weeks and looks the kind of player now that could get into many sides in the game. If he keeps scoring Spurs are going to have a job to hold on to him.

LAM: Christian Eriksen

Eriksen would surely like to play in the centre but is more adept than Alli out on the left and so will play here. Expect him to cut inside and try and influence things down the middle, though.

ST: Harry Kane

First name on the team-sheet? If not he’s pretty close. Kane is the real deal in the Premier League and looks like he could score an incredible amount of goals if he stays fit.
