When Harry Kane got injured earlier this season, we all wondered how Spurs would cope without him and how Vincent Janssen would step up in his place.
Indeed, our resident Lilywhites fans here in the Transfer Tavern were worried how the unproven Dutchman would fair in Kane’s absence and, to be blunt, they were sorely disappointed.
Janssen has only managed to score goals from penalties this season and looks a long way short of challenging the England man for his spot whilst if Kane does get injured again this season, Spurs are going to look short again.
It’s something Mauricio Pochettino must surely feel he has to sort out in January if Spurs are to be taken seriously in this tightest of title races with the club beginning to slip off of the pace being five points off of the top.
Nevertheless, it’s not a huge gap and our landlord reckons in looking at these FOUR strikers the club still could be a real force to be reckoned with…
Mauro Icardi
Icardi is a top drawer forward and is showing why again this season in Serie A but the rest of his Inter Milan side are not performing how they should and, to be frank, the fans do not like him.
He’s seen a penalty miss of his celebrated by his own supporters and calls for his captain’s armband to be taken from him.
You have to wonder then, would a Spurs bid be best for everyone involved?
Andrea Belotti
People are excited over in Italy about Belotti with his ability to assess chances already despite his young age.
He looks like a natural goal-scorer no matter what the environment or situation and any side could do with that, especially Spurs when Harry Kane is out injured.
Many sides should be looking at the forward and Spurs should ensure they get through the door first.
Alassane Plea
Whilst Mario Balotelli has grabbed most of the headlines for his goal-scoring heroics since joining Nice this season, Plea has been just as important for the side on the French Riviera.
Plea is young, quick and powerful and clearly does not get overawed by playing with big reputations so he could certainly adapt to the Premier League and fits Pochettino’s transfer policy too.
Paco Alcacer

Alcacer joined Barcelona in the summer with him being viewed as the next top Spanish striker, but he is struggling for game time this season behind the trio that doesn’t need to be mentioned.
Whilst Spurs would not be able to get him on a permanent deal in January a loan deal could be possible and would seemingly suit both parties, with Alcacer playing and Spurs getting a top striker.
