It’s been a difficult season for Arsenal, as a campaign that offered so much has seemingly left them empty-handed. Whilst they can still mathematically win the Premier League, realistically it’s not going to happen.
Arsenal’s last few months have been pretty disastrous, with the Gunners conceding their lead in the Premier League, crashing out of the FA Cup and being taken apart by Barcelona in the Champions League- although the last one was expected.
It’s led to questions about Arsene Wenger’s future at Arsenal, whether the Gunners can keep hold of their star players and who the club can genuinely attract. Overall, it’s set to be a busy summer for Arsenal and the Gunners undoubtably have to solve their issues quickly.
With Arsenal having seven games to play, after today’s clash with Watford, there’s time for Wenger to begin to fix these problems before they rear their ugly head once again in the summer- make sure it’s done!

Sort out a quality striker
If you look at Arsenal’s rivals, they all have a star striker to rely on. Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge, when he’s fit, Chelsea have Diego Costa, Manchester City have Sergio Aguero and Tottenham have Harry Kane. Arsenal, however, don’t have a figure like that.
Olivier Giroud is inconsistent, Theo Walcott is much the same and Danny Welbeck may be the answer, if he can stay fit- and that’s a big ask. For Arsenal, it seems the best possible scenario is to bite the bullet and move for a striker in the transfer market.
Tie stars down to new contracts
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez continue to be linked with high-profile exits from Arsenal and whilst there have been reports of the Gunners looking to hand the duo fresh terms, there’s been nothing solid yet and that’s an issue.
If a club that can offer better options for success and better wages, Arsenal may have an immense problem keeping hold of their key players and losing either of their star duo would really knock the Gunners back a few steps- which is something that can’t afford to let happen.
Oust the deadwood
Arsene Wenger has done well in recent years to revamp the squad and oust the players that simply aren’t good enough but his job isn’t finished. Mathieu Flamini, for some reason, is still around- though fortunately his contract expires this summer, along with Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky.
Arsenal may need to bite the bullet though and call it time on other underperforming members of the squad. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doesn’t look like he’ll be a first-choice regular anytime soon, whilst Theo Walcott has failed to find his feet properly.
Identify a tactic that works
Earlier in the season, Arsenal were flying and their blistering counter-attacking style of play was working well- with the highlight being the demolition of Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. For some reason though, the Gunners have lost their way.
Arsenal have instead resulted to their frustrating approach of trying to pass the ball into the back of the net and have been wasteful in front of goal. It’s a poisonous mix and one that must be solved, otherwise Arsenal could see their issues continue into the next campaign.
Fix defensive issues
For a side that boasts Petr Cech and three regular internationals in their first-choice back-line, including a World Cup winner, Arsenal have still not quite managed to erase their defensive woes. Whether it’s a silly mistake or being caught off guard, the Gunners are vulnerable.
Arsenal’s defence can be seen guilty as trying to fit into their style of play, fluid attacking football, and that can lead them to be undone. The back-line should be there to defend, trusting those ahead to sort out the attacking.
