Tottenham face Burnley tomorrow afternoon in the Premier League, hoping to repeat the kind of form they showed when dispatching Newcastle United 4-0 in the Capital One Cup quarter final on Wednesday.
Mauricio Pochettino will fancy his chances of guiding Tottenham to Wembley in his first season, having been drawn against League One Sheffield United over a two-legged semi-final.
Tomorrow’s clash with Burnley will be an opportunity to use that confidence picked up in the thrashing of Newcastle and establish some kind of form in the Premier League at White Hart Lane.
Whilst Pochettino’s side have picked up wins in three of their last four away matches, they have managed just two league wins at home this season – and supporters have often vented their frustration.
Consistency and momentum is what Tottenham are chasing, but in order to get that the feeling is they will need some new additions in January.

Paco Alcacer
The 21-year-old is already a full Spanish international and is considered one of the brightest young strikers in La Liga.
Valencia still find themselves in financial trouble so may well be forced to listen to offers for their prized asset this winter.
Tottenham have been linked with a move already, with some reports suggesting a deal could be struck that would see Roberto Soldado return to his former club in part-exchange.
Mateo Musacchio
The 24-year-old was linked heavily with a move to White Hart Lane in the summer but personal terms could not be agreed.
The Argentine has been a standout performer in La Liga over the past couple of seasons, helping Villarreal to the best defensive record in the country last term.
Tottenham’s centre back options have been strengthened slightly, but Musacchio is a different class of talent. Barcelona have also been linked with a move for him but the lure of first team football and the chance to play under a former Argentine centre back such as Pochettino may see the North London club take the advantage in the race for his signature.
Daniel Alves
The
The Brazilian has fallen out of favour at the Camp Nou in recent times and is set to leave the club either in January or at the end of the season.
The likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked but all look pretty strong in the right back department in comparison to Tottenham.
A lot would depend on whether Spurs could match his wages but Alves would certainly get more playing time at White Hart Lane than at the other Premier League clubs linked with a move.
Isco
Despite some superb performances for Real Madrid this season, Spanish playmaker Isco still finds regular first team opportunities hard to come by.
Any top club in Europe would surely welcome the Spaniard into their side and Tottenham will consider themselves no different.
The price could prove the stumbling block for any potential move but with reports suggesting the former Malaga man is eager to move, Tottenham could remind Real Madrid they owe them a favour or two following the sales of Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in recent times.
Whilst a move would prove challenging, such is the quality of Isco – this is a signing that would send out a clear message to the rest of the Premier League and would surely prove a worthwhile investment for Daniel Levy – who has funds to spare after a relatively quiet summer transfer window.
Sami Khedira
The defensive midfielder was a star for Germany during the summer’s World Cup but finds himself unwanted and approaching the end of his contract at Real Madrid.
Again, it would depend on whether Tottenham can match Khedira’s wage demands but if he wants to play regular first team football then White Hart Lane could be the place to do it.
Pochettino is crying out for a defensive midfielder, having failed with a move for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin in the summer. Khedira would offer class and experience to a Tottenham midfield that has often struggled this season.
