6ft3 Newcastle man could be the unlikely hero against Huddersfield tomorrow – agreed?

The Newcastle United fans are feeling apprehensive in the Transfer Tavern ahead of one of their most important fixtures of the season so far against Huddersfield Town tomorrow afternoon.

Rafa Benitez welcomes David Wagner and his Huddersfield side to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon for a relegation six-pointer which could have decisive consequences on the battle to beat the drop this season. Newcastle have been vastly improved in recent weeks with only 1 defeat in their last 6 Premier League outings against a red-hot Liverpool side at Anfield.

The importance of this fixture cannot be expressed highly enough for both sides. A win for Newcastle would see them move 4 points clear of The Terriers with a game in hand and mightily close to securing their survival this season, whereas a defeat could leave them perilously close to the relegation zone.

Huddersfield recorded a 1-0 victory when these two sides met earlier in the season courtesy of a second-half strike from Aaron Mooy, so The Magpies will be out to get revenge this afternoon. Although he has been bitterly disappointing throughout the season so far, Joselu had a rare positive game for Newcastle against Huddersfield last time out after he entered proceedings for his Newcastle debut in the 52nd minute.

If he can produce the same level of performance again today he might just fire Newcastle to a priceless victory. So far this season, Joselu has scored just 4 goals and provided 1 assist from 25 appearances in the Premier League, so the fans will hardly be expecting fireworks from the Spaniard tomorrow afternoon.

However, form often goes out the window in fixtures of this magnitude, and if Joselu wants to earn the affection of the Toon Army then he simply has to get himself on the score sheet. Newcastle have a fantastic opportunity to do so against a lacklustre Huddersfield side tomorrow, and Joselu could prove to be the surprise match-winner if his club debut is anything to go by.

If he’s ever going to step up, tomorrow is the time for him to do it.
