£9 Million And Not A Penny Less

Word sneaking out of Sunderland is that Steve Bruce is currently scouring pharmacy shelves for hair loss remedies after trying to negotiate with Tottenham for the services of Alan Hutton.

It is being said that Spurs want the full nine million for the player and won’t budge. Quite how Hutton is worth nine million anythings is a mystery to me. He started of quite brightly at Tottenham, but quickly went off the boil.

The player was repeatedly distracted by off field activities. One high point was going on an all day bender with friends and family in London which climaxed in him battering his father in broad daylight.

Hutton’s performances at Sunderland have been equally ‘alright’ so unless Spurs have a plan to bring the Scot to heel and employ him in the impending Champions League campaign at White Hart Lane it’s difficult to see the logic in holding Bruce to ransom.
