Since arriving at Stoke, Xherdan Shaqiri has been nothing short of a revelation.
He was the landmark signing at the Potters looked to transition away from the one dimensional, long ball style of play that they had become renowned for – and he has been the focal point of Stoke’s attack as they have become a dynamic, passing based team.
The season hasn’t started particularly well for Mark Hughes thus far, but given the quality of players like Shaqiri in the Stoke squad – they always have a chance. That is, until the possibility of a Shaqiri departure rises…
Shaqiri’s agent has recently been speaking about the future of his client, and he has left the door somewhat open for a possible departure.
He spoke to Corriere Dello Sport and said: “January is a long way off, there will be time to evaluate the various options”.
He was also questioned on the possibility of a switch to Roma, to which he replied: “Never say never…”
Far from conclusive from Shaqiri’s agent – and his comments have left the Stoke City faithful in the Tavern concerned.
He has been crucial to their cause as of late – and his departure could be the final nail in the coffin for Mark Hughes this season.
Stoke currently sit in 19th in the Premier League, having picked up just 3 points so far this season.
