West Ham United have had a number of injuries already in what has been a testing season for Manuel Pellegrini’s side so far.
The Hammers have seen the likes of Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko and Carlos Sanchez all been hit with significant blows.
However, one man appears to be on the verge of making a long-awaited return to the first-team after having spent time on the sidelines.
West Ham posted a gallery of photos on Instagram showing Andy Carroll back in action when they faced Brentford in a friendly on Thursday night behind-closed-doors at Griffin Park.
The striker, who has been out with an ankle problem, managed to play the whole of the second half and came through the 45 minutes without any problems.
The Verdict:
Carroll’s return will be a huge boost to West Ham and fans will have been delighted to see the striker making his way back to action.
The towering forward has been out since the middle of the summer after suffering a recurrence to his ankle problem and has started to rebuild his fitness.
His return could be timely for the Hammers as they will meet Manchester City at the London Stadium when the Premier League returns from the international break, before travelling to his former club Newcastle United.
