Whether Arsenal end the season with silverware or not, a busy summer is expected at the Emirates Stadium.
If Mikel Arteta’s side go on to secure the Premier League title — which is looking increasingly likely — strengthening the squad will be key to maintaining their dominance. If they fall short, investment will be just as important to ensure they can go again next season.
Either way, retaining top talent remains a priority, especially with several players attracting attention from across Europe. One of those has recently been linked with a return to Italy, but Arsenal have now made a firm decision on his future.
Arsenal Make Calafiori Decision
Arsenal have no intention of selling Riccardo Calafiori this summer despite growing interest from Serie A clubs, according to TEAMtalk.
The Italian defender arrived in north London in 2024 after the Gunners fought off strong competition to secure his signature in a deal that could exceed £40 million. Although injuries have disrupted parts of his time at the club, the 23-year-old has still featured regularly and remains an important part of Arteta’s plans.
Calafiori has primarily operated at left-back but is also capable of playing in central defence, giving Arsenal valuable tactical flexibility across the back line. That versatility has only increased his appeal to clubs in Italy.
Inter Milan are believed to be among those closely monitoring his situation, while AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli have also shown interest in the defender should an opportunity arise. Reports have even suggested the player could be open to a return to Serie A.
However, Arsenal’s stance appears clear. The club see Calafiori — described by Arteta as “special” — as part of their long-term project and are not considering a sale. The defender himself is also thought to be settled in London and is not pushing for an exit.
Despite strong interest from Italy, Arsenal are standing firm over Calafiori’s future. With the club focused on building a squad capable of sustained success, letting a versatile and highly-rated defender leave is not currently part of the plan.
