Arsenal’s search for a reliable goal scorer looks set to continue this summer as they prepare to strengthen their attack.
Last summer, the Gunners brought in Viktor Gyökeres in the hope he could finally lead them to their first league title since 2003/04. While Gyökeres has contributed with 16 goals across all competitions, his 11 Premier League strikes fall short of expectations for a club chasing silverware.
With the campaign heading toward a crucial final stretch, Arsenal appear ready to add competition up front and are now monitoring a top young prospect.
Arsenal Monitoring Christian Kofane
Arsenal are reportedly tracking 19-year-old Cameroon striker Christian Kofane, according to reporter Florian Plettenberg.
The teenager has made waves in Europe with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, particularly impressing during the Champions League quarter-finals.
Several other top clubs are said to be showing interest, including Real Madrid, highlighting the forward’s growing reputation. Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €60–70 million, with discussions ongoing between the club and Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo.
Since joining Leverkusen last summer, Kofane has scored seven goals and earned six caps for Cameroon, netting twice for his country.
The young striker has already drawn high praise from legendary compatriot Samuel Eto’o, who said: “He has everything it takes to do better than Samuel Eto’o.”
With Eto’o regarded as one of the finest forwards of his generation, such commendation underlines Kofane’s potential. For Arsenal, the forward represents a promising long-term investment who could provide both competition and a fresh attacking spark alongside Gyökeres next season.
