Aston Villa fans will be loving life under Dean Smith at the moment. The Villains have crept back into the top six having won their last four Championship games, and they to be in great form. However, a number of Villains have been slating their midfielder, Birkir Bjarnason, after the Birmingham Mail’s claims he rejected offers to stay at the club.

It seems strange to say fans slating one of their own players for opting to stay on at the club. However, the fans only believe that Bjarnason is still with them because he must be on a decent wage. The Icelandic midfielder supposedly stayed on because he wants to fight for his place under Dean Smith, but we’re yet to see that from the 30-year-old, and the only thing evident at the moment is his lack of fight.
Bjarnason clocked up his two-year anniversary as a Villa Park man when the January transfer window rolled on by. It was Jan 2017 when he signed from Basel, and whilst he may have had an impact in that 2017/18 season where the Villains made it to the playoff final, this season he’s paled in comparison, with just 11 starts in the Championship, and only six of them have come since Dean Smith took charge.

He must be on a decent wage then…

The way McGinn, Jack, Hourihane & Whelan are playing at the moment, he’s got a job on his hands

He is useless

The Villains really don’t seem too fussed by their midfielder’s comments, and from the sounds of things, they wouldn’t be against him walking out in the summer.
