Marcus Rashford’s future remains one of the most closely watched storylines ahead of the summer window, with Barcelona continuing to push to turn his loan move from Manchester United into a permanent transfer.
The England international has enjoyed an impressive spell in Spain, delivering consistent output and quickly establishing himself as a key figure in Barcelona’s attack.
Despite recent reports suggesting the club’s interest may have cooled, behind-the-scenes negotiations indicate that the LaLiga champions are still actively working on a deal.
Barcelona to Hold Fresh Talks with Man United Over Rashford
Barcelona are now preparing to hold renewed discussions with Manchester United ahead of the World Cup as they look to finalise a permanent move for Marcus Rashford.
According to talkSPORT, personal terms have already been agreed with the 28-year-old forward, who has scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances this season and is eager to remain in Spain.
Rashford’s current loan deal includes a €30m (£26m) option to buy, but Manchester United have made it clear they expect Barcelona to activate the clause if they want to secure his signature, insisting the fee is below his market valuation.
Barcelona sporting director Deco has attempted to restructure the deal, with a preference for another season-long loan that would include a conditional obligation to buy based on appearances. However, the Catalan club have not ruled out paying the full fee if alternative structures cannot be agreed.
Financial restrictions in LaLiga remain a major obstacle, even for a club of Barcelona’s stature, meaning any deal must be carefully structured to comply with strict spending rules.
Rashford, who has been included in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, has no intention of returning to Old Trafford, with United also keen to remove his wages from their books following a rise in salary after Champions League qualification.
Barcelona remain confident of reaching an agreement, believing both the player’s desire to stay and United’s willingness to move him on could ultimately help push the deal through.
