Chelsea are facing a huge summer after a deeply disappointing campaign.
The Blues finished 10th in the Premier League, missing out on European football altogether, and major changes are already underway at Stamford Bridge.
Xabi Alonso is set to take charge ahead of next season, but with no continental competition on offer, keeping hold of every key player may prove difficult.
Several senior stars have been linked with moves away in recent weeks, and now one of Chelsea’s most important performers appears to be attracting serious interest from Spain’s biggest clubs.
Barcelona, Real Madrid Make Approach for Cucurella
Marc Cucurella, previously described as “brilliant” by former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, is reportedly attracting attention from both Barcelona and Real Madrid ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to The Athletic, multiple clubs have contacted representatives working on behalf of the Chelsea defender to explore the possibility of a move.
Barcelona are understood to be among the sides monitoring the situation, with sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick both admirers of the Spain international. However, any potential move would likely depend on departures at the Camp Nou first.
Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on Cucurella as they assess options at left-back, although it remains unclear whether they will pursue a formal approach.
Atletico Madrid have also expressed interest and are believed to view the 27-year-old as a priority target, with discussions already taking place behind the scenes.
Despite the growing attention, Chelsea are not under pressure to sell. Cucurella only signed a new contract last summer and still has three years remaining on his deal.
The report suggests the Blues would not actively block an exit if their valuation was met, but they remain relaxed about the situation and are yet to make a final decision on his future.
After another strong individual campaign, Cucurella’s stock remains high across Europe, and Chelsea could soon face a battle to keep hold of one of their most reliable players.
