Rafa Benitez will be hopeful his Newcastle United side can add another three points to their total this weekend when they take on a woefully out of form Bristol City side.

The Spaniard has managed to get his team right in the mix at the top of the table and our Toon fans here in the Tavern think they look every bit the finished article in terms of a team capable of winning promotion back to the Premier League.

Newcastle probably should be in the top flight, but they are in the second tier for good reason. However, another win over the Robins today could see them move a step closer to that return to the top flight they crave.

Talk over at the jukebox this week has been around the squad and fringe players, and if some might be given a chance to impress today.

With this in mind, we take a look at TWO players Benitez should use as impact subs today against Bristol City…

Christian Atsu

The on loan winger was introduced very late on in the win over Aston Villa this past week, and he will be hoping for longer to make an impact today.

Atsu is a bag of tricks and a full international, which demonstrates the Newcastle squad depth.

Atsu will be hoping Benitez gives him the nod earlier this week and he can make an impact on the game in the hope of securing a start the following week.

Ayoze Perez

Another attacking player hoping to get some more time will be Spaniard Perez, who found himself not even making the field this past week.

Capable of playing across all the attacking positions, Perez will be hoping to be given the nod off the bench with Dwight Gayle more than likely to be missing for the game.
