Bilic simply must utilise these 2 West Ham players as impact subs

West Ham United have finally won their second game of the season and it could prove a massive turning point in their campaign.

The Hammers fans so far here in the Transfer Tavern have been pretty downbeat about their results so far with the club a shadow of the one that finished seventh last season, but the performance at the weekend against Crystal Palace was exactly what they needed.

They played good football against an in-form Palace side and deserved their victory whilst they also showed togetherness and fight, especially when Aaron Cresswell had been sent off.

It was pleasing, then, for both Slaven Bilic and the Hammers fans but in the next few weeks as they try to find their rhythm it’s likely the games are going to remain tight.

Our landlord reckons so, too, and thinks the Croatian boss needs to utilise his bench more to help see the Hammers over the line. Here are TWO players that should be used as impact subs, then…

Ashley Fletcher

Fletcher has pace, strength and that lack of fear that comes with being young so would be the perfect impact player to come off of the bench.

With West Ham still struggling for goals he could be the difference in running behind lagging defenders, and that could lead him to earn more chances as a first-team starter out right.

Bilic has to make the call first, though.

Jonathan Calleri

The new signing from Argentina has yet to have much of an impact on the Premier League and that could be down to trying to adapt to the physicality of it.

Naturally, it’ll take time and so Bilic may be better off using him in small doses to start with.

When the opposition are tiring he can come on and find those gaps he is good at working in as well as getting gradually accustomed to the league.
