Jefferson Montero made his first start for Birmingham City in Blues’ 2-1 win against Stoke City, but it didn’t last long for the Ecuadorian.
Just 29 minutes into the game, the 30-year-old was carried off on a stretcher and replaced by Jude Bellingham – who went on to score the winner:

There had been plenty of excitement following his debut, in which he came on for the final 10 minutes of Blues’ 3-0 victory over Barnsley, making 3 dribbles and 1 key pass, as per WhoScored.
It is safe to say this performance was underwhelming though, as he managed to complete 3 of his 4 passes and attempted 1 dribble that didn’t come off while he was on the pitch.
There is a chance he could be back soon though, as Pep Clotet has stated that he is not overly concerned about the severity of the injury, as reported by The Birmingham Mail.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the injury, including posts from disappointed Birmingham fans, can be seen below:
we really didn’t listen to Swansea fans saying his hamstrings are made of cheese did we
