Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story from Diario Gol, claiming that Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale, would prefer a return to Tottenham than a move to Manchester United. The Welshman has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford for a number of years after leaving Spurs for Madrid back in 2013.

The Tottenham fans propping up the bar have fond memories of Bale’s time in N17. Bale lit up White Hart Lane on a number of occasions as he combined his electrifying pace with his eye for goal to give both nightmares to goalkeepers and defenders who arrived to face Spurs. Although the memories of Bale will live long in the memory of our resident Lilywhites, there’s a now a chance that Bale could be coming back to make more. Bale’s career with Los Blancos has been marred by injury, leading to rumours that Zinedine Zidane is prepared to sell the wing-wizard.
If the rumours are any more than just rumours, it’s no doubt going to excite our local Spurs fans. Despite a few questions over the Welshman’s ability to stay fit, there’s no reason why Tottenham fans wouldn’t want to see Bale back in white and roaring up and down the left flank. If a deal does materialise, it could be the perfect welcome for Tottenham fans as they look to embed some history into their new home next season.
