Tottenham have enjoyed a mixed start to the season, with Mauricio Pochettino working hard to get the best out of his faltering side.
The Spurs fans in the Tavern have consistently maintained that Pochettino should have done more to improve his side over the summer – and it would appear that the Argentine boss felt the same way.
Spurs were linked with a host of players over the summer; but it would appear that the Lilywhites failed in a move for German starlet Max Meyer – who has been impressive in the Bundesliga as of late.
Speaking to Sport Bild, Meyer has revealed that a move for him by Tottenham was rejected by his club: “I know that interest was there and was asked to the club. But Schalke immediately put a stop to it.
Meyer also revealed that he is in no rush to move: “I…know what I have at Schalke, and I like to play for this club”.
This is a blow for the Tottenham fans in the Tavern, many of whom had touted Meyer as a ‘dream signing’ at White Hart Lane.
Meyer has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Schalke this season, and has made 1 assist.
